Human Rights – Everyone’s right!

Australia is the only western country not to have a domestic human
rights bill but, the newly formed Human Rights
Coalition of SA reports :

  • 2004 The ACT passed the first Human Rights Bill in Australia.
  • 2005 The Victorian Government put out a draft bill for public
    consultation and comment.

A draft national Bill of Rights has been launched by prominent
Australians in all States and is now available for public
comment on the New Matilda website

Human Rights Coalition

A Human Rights Coalition was launched in Adelaide in May 2005 to raise public awareness and support for a similar SA Bill of Rights. We welcome community groups contacting us to provide speakers
or run community forums on human rights.

Please consider joining the Human Rights Coalition as an individual or community group to keep yourself informed of current issues, especially in the lead up to the State election in March 2006.
