Eureka Oath Recited in Adelaide

Last Thursday, 3rd of December, supporters of Spirit of Eureka and others recited the diggers oath of 1854 on the steps of Parliament House in Adelaide. The Honourable Robert Sneath, President of the Legislative Council lead those present on the steps of Parliament House in the original oath led by Peter Lalor.

155th Eureka Anniversary To Be Commemorated On The Steps Of The SA Parliament

Eureka oath to be led by President of the Legislative Council, Thursday 3rd December.

Today at 1.15pm, President of the Legislative Council, Bob Sneath, will lead a gathering on the steps of Parliament in reciting the oath first taken by the miners of Ballarat at the famous Eureka Stockade.

Historic Eureka flag to be flown by Marion Council

After being approached by the Spirit of Eureka Committee the Marion Council has decided to fly the Eureka Flag during the commemorative anniversary (Nov 28 to Dec 3) of the Eureka Stockade Rebellion of 1854.

Spirit of Eureka Launched in Adelaide

On Friday March 27, around 40 people met at the Migration Museum Chapel in the city to launch the “Spirit of Eureka Committee – Adelaide” and the “Eureka Charter”. The “Spirit of Eureka Committee” in Melbourne has been in existence for 5 years, since 2004, the 150th anniversary of the Eureka Stockade. Last year, November 28th, the Melbourne Committee launched its Eureka Charter this being the motivator for the “Spirit of Eureka Committee – Adelaide” (SoE) to form.

The powers that be want us to adopt Anzac Day as our main day of country-wide reflection. Bah! Eureka Day (December 3rd) is where it’s at!

Anzac Day celebrates our right to die in a ditch whilst invading a distant country in the service of an ungrateful, murderous foreign empire.
