Laser printers as dangerous as smoking: report

A new study has found office printers could be as bad for people’s health as smoking cigarettes.

Queensland University of Technology researchers found fine particles emitted by some laser printers raised indoor particle levels fivefold during office hours.

Professor Lidia Morawska says it is an issue employers should take seriously.

Institutional shareholders have given Macquarie Bank a rap over the knuckles over the huge pay packets of senior executives.

The parliamentary elections in Timor-Leste on June 30 2007 will determine whether or not the country continues on an independent progressive development path or falls into line behind the dominant conservative powers in the region, especially Australia, the US and Indonesia. If the latter is the outcome, the Australian left will be left to ponder why so many of our country=s so-called progressive commentators got things so wrong.
